ACG COMMERCIAL architects are finalising tenders for the Kawana Forest Community Centre, planned for construction in the next financial year.
The Centre has been designed in close consultation with the community to meet their needs, and to meet the environmental expectations of the Sunshine Coast Council (SCC).
The land has been included by Stocklands as part of the Kawana Forest master planned development, and the construction budget has been prioritised by SCC capital works.
The architects statement follows….
Design Intent : The feel of the building emulates the rich and vibrant spaces of a forest. It responds intimately to the site, the surroundings and the changing environmental conditions.
Community : The building is versatile for both big and small groups and for a variety of activities. It meets all modern utilitarian standards of convenience and universal access. The human scale of the building allows it to sit within its surrounding community with ease.
Economical : The building is simple and economical to construct. There is however a uniqueness and delightfulness to the spaces. Simple, durable materials will hold the building in good stead for the life of the community and for generations to come.
ACG Commercial Architects won the tender for this project based on their expertise in designing and delivering community projects, experience in consultation, environmental expertise, project management, and as a locally based architecture firm.
The last Council had contracted non-sunshine coast based firms for a number of significant capital works projects but for this project ACG Commercial are actively collaborating with other established Sunshine Coast consultancies.
On other public projects they have also worked with various local artists.
ACG Commercial architects have successfully delivered over 300 projects across a range of sectors for private, community and government clients.
ACG Commercial are quality rated as ‘industry best practice’, are an A+ practice member of the Australian Institute of Architects, and are an Ecobiz accredited office.
